Contributing to the Ministry According to God’s Riches in You

All We Have Belongs To The Lord

As we approach the end of the year 2024, I have come to reflect on many things that affect the life of ELI Asia as an organization. You see, to be able to continue doing this ministry, we, at ELI Asia need all the help and support we can get. The past couple of years have been challenging but God is always faithful to sustain us through the challenges and continues to provide for the needs of ELI Asia.

So as we look forward to the coming year 2025, I encourage you to support the ministry in providing affordable theological education to pastors in the provinces already doing the work on the ground.

We pray for ministry partners to help raise men and women of sound theology and equip local churches based on God’s word. The assistance they get from ministry partners aids in developing biblical ministers, church planters, and lay leaders in local churches. It enables workers to supply resources and create modules. It allows teachers to teach face-to-face and online, and capture videos of their courses.

To quote Pastor Nicky Joya:

The Example of the Macedonian Churches

In 2 Corinthians 8:1-7 it says:

“1 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, 2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, 4 begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— 5 and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us. 6 Accordingly, we urged Titus that as he had started, so he should complete among you this act of grace. 7 But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also.” (ESV)

I have always been encouraged by the generosity of the Macedonian Churches of whom the Apostle Paul wrote about in His letter to the Corinthians. To them, being able to contribute to the work of the saints in the early church was a privilege, not an obligation. They had embodied the true meaning of sacrificial giving for the expansion of God’s kingdom here on earth.

The Macedonian churches were not rich; they were distressed and experiencing considerable suffering. Despite their challenging circumstances, their joy overcame their suffering because of their devotion to the Lord and His cause. In verses 3-5, Paul writes:

“They gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability… They urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints… They gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s will”

And this is the heart attitude expected of us believers when we contribute to the ministry. That as we contribute our skills, our wisdom, our wealth, and through prayer for the needs of the ministry and its workers, we will have this joy and readiness to devote ourselves to the cause of Christ.

Prayerfully, we ask the Lord for brothers and sisters who have the readiness and eagerness to support the church and the ministry of equipping those who lead the local churches. To contribute according to the wisdom, according to the skills, according to the worship Christ has modeled for us, and according to the wealth God has given us. All according to God’s riches in us. For all we have belongs to the Lord. Our generosity and giving serve as the Lord’s ministry to his people and a message to the world about the gospel.

We have been blessed all these years with ministry partners, volunteers, and professors, who continue to advance our cause.  They are always eager and ready to fill the needs of the many pastors and students who benefit greatly from the training they receive from ELI Asia. We are grateful for their generosity which paved the way for ELI Asia to reach those who are unable to get the needed education and training to do God’s work.

The work does not stop, it is ongoing and it will continue to progress. So we pray continually for more people to realize the gifts God has given them, to be used by God for His ministry. May the Lord bless us all!
