ELI Asia Newsletter Yearend 2023
Dr. Hans F. Bayer, Professor of New Testament at Thirdmill talked about how the Holy Spirit empowered the ministry of the Gospel. He said:
“As the apostles advanced the mission of the church, their work on the frontiers of the kingdom was consistently confirmed by dramatic outpourings of the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit’s power, the Gospel spread unhindered from Jerusalem to Judea, and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Even today, the power of the Holy Spirit is the only means by which the church can be transformed and effectively spread the Gospel, we too must seek to depend on the Spirit’s power if we are to be godly and effective witnesses to the Gospel message.”
What he said is powerful to me. Whether ELI Asia grows or not is all in the hands of the mighty God. But by His Spirit, He enables men and women to be equipped to do His good work. By His Spirit, He allows sound doctrines to be taught to local churches who might be straying away from the true Gospel. By His Spirit, He compels pastors and lay leaders to seek theological education and not rely on their own understanding.
The important task that God has given ELI Asia is essential to the local churches that it serves. According to Thirdmill, “By the year 2050, the global church will need an estimated 7,741,450 new pastors.” To be able to do the work of developing biblical leaders for the local church, it must seek to depend on God alone by the power of the Holy Spirit. Not by its own mind and strength but by God. We have so much work to do!
We give all the glory and praise to God as ELI Asia continues to grow, its faculty and staff being used to be godly and effective witnesses to the Gospel message. We pray to be kept by God, in heart, in mind, in strength, and in spirit. We pray to be kept faithful in doing His work and to seek Christ in all our ways.
May you continue to pray for us and support the work that God has entrusted to us.
Are You Looking for Biblical Equipping?
Evangelical Leadership Institute Asia seeks to enable Christian leaders to acquire theological and ministerial education equivalent to those offered in Bible colleges, without leaving their churches for a long time. The goal of the program is to train Christian leaders and workers for ministry, while in ministry without having to leave their secular or full-time Christian vocations.
The ELI Asia Leadership Programs are designed in such a way that face-to-face lectures and classroom discussions, and independent readings and research are integrated. If your church is seeking to equip your pastors and lay leaders biblically, you may prayerfully consider partnering with ELI Asia. You may reach us through e-mail at trainingministers@gmail.com
Our ministry of providing affordable ministerial and theological training to pastors and lay leaders is made possible by the financial support of individuals and churches. Every seed that is sown is used to fulfill our mission of equipping leaders for effective church ministry.
