It’s truly a blessed day when ELI Asia receives Reformation Study Bibles from Ligonier Ministries. 83 copies of the Reformation Study Bible Compact Edition were entrusted to us to be distributed to pastors and workers of the different campuses of ELI Asia. Praise the Lord!  We cannot even begin to describe how important this is to the work ELI Asia is doing here in the Philippines. These Bibles will become tools in teaching pastors and faculty how to be equipped biblically thus helping them to oversee and teach the local churches entrusted to them. The Importance of Theological Education in the Church

The need to equip the saints for works of ministry is clearly spelled out in the Scriptures through God’s servant, the apostle Paul. Ephesians 4:11-14 (CSB) 11 And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness. 14 Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. Theological education holds…

Church Planting and the Great Commission: The Call, the Church, and the Challenge

When Jesus gave His disciples the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19–20, I’ve always imagined the moment not as a formal briefing but as a deeply personal sending. He wasn’t handing them a strategy document or a ministry blueprint. He was giving them His heart. “Go and make disciples of all nations…” has echoed across centuries, shaping the lives of ordinary believers who simply want to follow Christ wherever He leads. And here in the Philippines, I’ve seen how that same call continues to stir the hearts of men and women—pastors, missionaries, young leaders, mothers, fathers—who long to see their communities transformed by the gospel. For me, this mission is not…

A Gift That Strengthens the Church: Our Gratitude for the 200 Reformation Study Bibles from Ligonier Ministries

There are moments in ministry when God’s provision arrives so clearly, so specifically, that it becomes impossible not to pause and give thanks. Receiving 200 copies of the Reformation Study Bible from Ligonier Ministries was one of those moments for us at Evangelical Leadership Institute Asia. What came to us as boxes of books quickly became something far deeper—an expression of gospel partnership, a strengthening of the hands of pastors and workers, and a reminder that the global Church stands together in the work of equipping the saints. When we first learned that Ligonier Ministries was sending these study Bibles, we were humbled. We knew the value of these resources.…

Encouraging the Called to Be Qualified: An ELI Asia Vision for 2026

We at ELI Asia firmly believe that we should support those who are called to be qualified. This phrase serves as a guiding concept for preparing men and women for ministry in a way that is both true to Scripture and sensitive to the needs of the church in the modern era. It is more than just a catchphrase. As we look toward 2026, theological seminaries must take this principle seriously, for the health of the church and the credibility of Christian witness depend on it. Affirming the Calling The first step is to affirm the calling. Many who sense God’s hand upon their lives wrestle with doubts, insecurities, or…

I Am Not Ashamed of The Gospel

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most powerful, transformative message ever proclaimed, yet it is also the most misunderstood and rejected. The Apostle Paul, writing to the Corinthians, boldly declares, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). This verse reveals a profound spiritual divide: the Gospel declares that our sin is not a minor flaw but a fatal condition. It insists that we cannot save ourselves through good deeds, religious rituals, or intellectual enlightenment. The cross stands as a stark reminder that salvation required a sacrifice so…

    Teaching Christ-Centered Leadership

When pastors and church planters set out to establish churches, their intentions may be noble—driven by a desire to serve, to shepherd, to see communities transformed by the gospel. Yet even with the best motives, they often, without realizing it, begin to center the ministry around themselves. Their gifts become the standard for excellence. Their leadership style becomes the default model. Their vision becomes the guiding compass. This change might occur slowly or even silently, but it has far-reaching effects. The church becomes weak when its health depends on one person’s presence, charisma, or wisdom. Christ’s body was never intended to revolve on a single person’s character or viewpoint. We…

The Training of Leaders for the Planting of Churches and Their Development

Not everyone is called to plant a church, and not everyone is meant to be a part of a church plant Let me ask you a question, one that most people hardly ever think about in their time as a professing believer in Christ. Have you ever considered how churches are established? Have you ever considered what it takes to build sound, biblical churches? Most people probably never thought about these things, and many times, most people only want to go to church as a regular attendee or member. Though some genuinely want to worship the Lord and grow in faith, knowledge, and wisdom when they come to church, some…

Shepherding the Church by Caring for Pastors

The role of the pastor and his family in the church is important in shaping the church’s spiritual, emotional, and social health. The pastor is the spiritual leader responsible for preaching, teaching, shepherding, and guiding members in their faith journey. He provides pastoral care through counseling, prayer, and encouragement, ensuring that the church remains spiritually nourished and biblically sound. He offers pastoral care through counseling, prayer, and encouragement, ensuring that the church remains spiritually nourished and biblically sound. The pastor does not serve alone; his family also plays a significant role in the church’s ministry. The pastor’s spouse frequently offers emotional support and participates in ministry activities. Additionally, the pastor’s…
